Photoshop CS3 Extended
This series of lessons are designed for web design students that are ready to create their own custom logos and design elements such as background images, rollover buttons, and flash movie components.
Lesson 1: Custom Logo
Learn to use Photoshop tools, layers, and options
Learn to use basic Photoshop (PS) tools to create a custom logo. You will use PS tools, options, and layers to create your own custom logo or the example below.

Step One
- Open Photoshop.
- Create a new document 300 px by 300 px.
Step Two
- Select the Type Tool (T) and click on the canvas to type "Simple Logo"
*hint to create different size text, like the example, select the background layer and then reselect the type (T) tool to create a new type layer
Step Three
- Select the Shape Tool and use the options (near the top) to create a Rounded Rectangle.

Step Four
Look at your logo and decide if there are any changes you want to make. Use the Tools and Options to make changes or create new shapes and text.
Remember to:
- Use the foreground color and selection tools to change colors of shapes and text.
- Be creative!
Step Five
Save your Photoshop document as "logoOne.psd"
